For the next four days the Meteorological Department has forecast a continuation of sporadic rainfall in most parts of Kenya with a heavy concentration in the coastal, central Kenya and the lake region.

According to the department, wind speeds may exceed 25 knots (about 46 km/h), which could affect small boats and outdoor activities.

“The strong southerly to South-eastern winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.86 m/s) are expected over the Coast (and Kenya’s territorial waters), the South-eastern lowlands, North-eastern and North-western Kenya.”

The department predicted that Kisumu, Kakamega, Nakuru, and Bungoma will experience sunny mornings followed by afternoon showers and thunderstorms, particularly from Thursday to Saturday. Nights are expected to be partly cloudy, with occasional light showers, and daytime temperatures ranging from 28°C to 30°C.

Areas such as Nairobi, Nyeri, and Murang’a will have cloudy mornings that become sunny. Afternoon showers are anticipated in some areas each day. Temperatures will remain steady at around 27°C during the day, with cooler nights dropping to as low as 5°C in some locations.

Further, the weatherman projected that Turkana and Samburu will have sunny days and partly cloudy nights, with low chances of rain. Daytime temperatures will remain high, around 35°C to 36°C, while nights may be chilly, with lows of 8°C.

According to the department, in Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera, mostly dry weather is expected, with only a slight chance of rain in a few areas. Temperatures will be hot, reaching up to 38°C during the day.

Kitui, Makueni, and Machakos will see a mix of sun and light showers, especially in the mornings and evenings. Maximum temperatures will range from 30°C to 32°C.

Mombasa, Lamu, Kilifi, and Kwale are expected to have showers in the mornings and afternoons, particularly on Thursday and Sunday. Daytime temperatures will be warm, between 30°C and 32°C, with high humidity and warm nights.

The department, however, urged the public to stay updated with the daily forecasts and follow safety advice, especially in areas expecting heavy rain or strong winds.

“Boaters and those living along the coast should be extra careful due to the expected rough seas,” the department said.

Meanwhile, the detailed weekly weather forecast for Siaya has shown all sub-Counties of Ugenya, Ugunja, Gem, Rarieda, Bondo and Siaya having humid and sunny mornings giving way to freak showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon with rainy and cold nights.
