First daughter Charlene Ruto has boldly called for a generational ceasefire in acknowledgement of the brewing discord among Kenyans of all ages and classes.
The daughter of President Ruto, who in her own right, is an accomplished motivation speaker decried the growing intolerance and extremity in dealing with divergent opinion.
‘As a young Kenyan- I would also like to challenge the entire country to embrace a generational ceasefire! These regrettable incidents, extremity and growing intolerance should challenge all of us as a nation to interrogate the environment and culture we want to live in and create for the generations coming after us,” said Charlene.
There was a somber mood as she called for a moment of silence during the conclusion of her latest cohort of 106 young leaders engaged in a week of leadership conversations in the Leadership Beyond Leadership Positions program.
“I have struggled with deep moments of reflection for the past few days to try and find context around what happened. This is a painful, unfortunate and overwhelming loss and we share our deepest condolences to Albert Omondi Ojwang’s family.”
Charlene appeared to reiterate similar sentiments uttered by former First Lady Margaret Kenyatta during an address to the Brookhouse School’s 17th graduation class.
“I see a bold generation rising, one ready to question the status quo, reimagine the future, and confront injustices. Your brilliance must drive innovation, experiment with new ideas, and help build the kinder world we so desperately need,” said Margaret Kenyatta.
Both women, one young and another reasonably aged have come to the realization that the future of Kenya is tied-in to the legacy of youth who neither nurse political grudges nor pursue imaginary online enemies, a generation confident in uplifting one another and shaping a joint destiny with our common heritage Kenya.
