Wiper Democratic Movement Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has wiggled his way into the Centre-stage of the ongoing Gen Z demonstrations.
Kalonzo led a team of opposition leaders including DAP-K Party’s Eugene Wamalwa and MP Robert Mbui to an early morning prayer meeting at the Holy Family Basilica.
The prayers were offered in commemoration of Kenya’s fallen heroes during the 2024 anti-Finance Bill protests and others who have been abducted and found dead thereafter.
Kalonzo and group addressed a press briefing outside the church where nothing significant was said apart from reiterating the truth that the youth have a right to peaceable demonstrations according to the constitution.
Kalonzo also made the preposterous claim that 4500 goons were assembling at City Hall in preparation to attack the peaceful demonstrators.

Although he’s never a key proponent of any clear political ideology, the Wiper leader has a way of wiggling his way into tight situations. During the post-election violence period of 2007-2008 he wiggled his way into becoming the nation’s Deputy President.
The opposition named him “watermelon” for not having any serious political conviction on anything. [The watermelon is neither fruit nor vegetable].
On the eve of today’s Maandamano, Kalonzo was hardpressed to make clear his stand. A statement attributed to him, made on his party letterhead was being circulated with a message urging the youth to boycott today’s demos.
Kalonzo Musyoka refuted claims that the United Opposition (as they call themselves) and its allied partners asked Kenyans to skip the June 25 protests. In a firm statement, the Wiper Party leader dismissed the circulating press release as misleading and accused political opponents of spreading fake news to weaken the protest movement.
Whether the statement was totally fake is yet-to-be-established. For now, Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka with all the imagery, chest humping and bravado, remains the weakest link in the United Opposition.
