The 2027 race for Siaya Woman Representative seat has attracted a larger than usual number of contenders at 14. Some of these contenders have no known political backgrounds and might be in the race merely for kicks.
One serious contender is Pamela Akello.
Pamela Akello rose to prominence in Siaya County politics during the 2022 General Elections, where she emerged as one of the most formidable contenders for the Woman Representative position.
Demonstrating unwavering loyalty to her Party (ODM), she made the strategic decision to support the then-incumbent and now outgoing Woman Representative, Dr. Christine Ombaka.
As the Bible reminds in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.”
Although the contest is bound to be gruelling, tough and close, her supporters think the time for Pamela Akello has arrived.
In the upcoming 2027 elections, Pamela has officially stepped forward as a candidate—this time determined to win a race that has already drawn interest from multiple contenders.
A staunch member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party and an active participant in the ODM Women’s League, Pamela is widely seen as the frontrunner and is highly favored to clinch the ODM ticket during the party’s primaries.
With her grassroots support, party loyalty, and proven political maturity, Pamela Akello is now poised to be among those leading the charge and could likely make history as Siaya County’s next Woman Representative.
