The Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that its voter verification portal which was undergoing maintenance is now back, up and running.
The voter verification portal is now open to the public.
The Commission made the announcement on Tuesday July 8, 2025 and also relayed gratitude to the public for exercising patience while the process of maintenance was ongoing.
In an earlier communication IEBC highlighted the need for the maintenance exercise, which aimed at enhancing system performance and strengthening security in preparation for upcoming electoral activities.
In Siaya County, for instance, a date is yet-to-be-set for the Ugunja Constituency by-election.
“We appreciate your patience during the maintenance period,” the IEBC statement read in part.
IEBC further urged citizens to take advantage of the development to log in and confirm their details and voter status, even though the election period is years away.

The IEBC indicated a system downtime on July 6, which ignited speculation and enthusiastic online debate. The commission had begun migrating its systems to a new digital framework.
The announcement, coming two years before the general elections, received criticism from the masses, terming it as ‘suspicious activity’, even as IEBC assured citizens that the registration records collected during the 2022 General Election would remain secure and intact throughout the migration process.
“The Commission highly regrets any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates your understanding as it works towards serving you better,” IEBC now says.
