DCI officers from Bondo are investigating the murder of a Police Constable whose body was Thursday morning found dumped along the Ndori-Luanda K’Otieno road.
The police are yet-to-determine the circumstances that led to the death of the officer identified as Constable Christone Maundu attached to Aram Police Station in Rarieda Constituency.
Preliminary reports indicate PC Maundu was at an isolated spot on the road waiting for assistance as his motorcycle had run out of fuel.
His body had several deep-cut wounds on the head when it was discovered just a short distance from Rarieda Secondary School moments after the murder took place.
It was established that Maundu had escorted two of his colleagues and was riding back to Aram shopping centre when the motorcycle ran out of fuel. He immediately called up the two colleagues who organized a top-up and went back to deliver it only to be met by the gruesome sight of PC Maundu lying in a pool of blood.
The motorcycle he was riding was found next to the body, untouched.
The assailants had also escaped the scene.
Senior officers from Aram and Bondo visited and processed the scene as investigations immediately got underway.
Although no arrests have been made police are pursuing some concrete leads.
The detectives are investigating the possibility that PC Maundu was trailed by his assailants and killed for yet-to-be-established reasons. There’s also a possibility that the officer was resisting a robbery attempt leading to the extensive stabbing wounds.
The body has been moved to the Bondo morgue in readiness for an autopsy.
