Early Tuesday Siaya County Secretary and Head of Public Service, Hon. Joseph Ogutu, visited the Siaya County Referral Hospital to observe the ongoing staff verification exercise under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program.
The exercise is being carried out by a multi-agency team comprising officers from the County Human Resource Department, the Ministry of Health (Medical Services), and the Council of Governors (CoG). It is being led on the ground by the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Dr. Caleb Otieno.
Hon. Ogutu was accompanied by the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health, Dr. Martin K’onyango, and the Chief Officer for Health, Dr. Samuel Owino.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Ogutu emphasized the importance of accountability in public service, stating,
“This exercise is key to strengthening our health systems by ensuring that every staff member is verifiably on the ground and serving the people of Siaya effectively.”
The verification exercise seeks to streamline human resource management, promote accountability, and enhance effective service delivery within the health sector across Siaya County.
