The Siaya County Department of Education has unveiled a game-changing 3-year strategic blueprint that redefines how resources are optimized and education initiatives delivered. Central to this plan is inclusive economic empowerment—particularly for persons with disabilities—signaling a countywide commitment to equitable development.
Over the next three years:
– 📘 450 ECD teachers and 20 specialized instructors will be recruited to enhance early learning.
– 🏫 705 ECD centres will be equipped with essential learning materials to boost child development.
– 🧱 A state-of-the-art ECD block will be constructed in South East Alego, setting a new standard for infrastructure.
– 📚 An allocation of KES 15 million will finance three new public libraries, and KES 45 million will support the renovation of 15 existing ECD centres, enhancing access to knowledge and literacy across the county.
Maida Nyawade, Director of Youth Affairs, Gender, and Social Services, affirmed the county’s resolve to complete four overdue policy frameworks:
– ✅ Widows Social Protection Bill
– ✅ Youth Development Policy
– ✅ Siaya County Children Policy
– ✅ Policy on Prevention and Response to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence
These foundational policies will shape a safer, more inclusive, and rights-driven future for all residents.
