Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma has publicly demanded the resignation of Edwin Sifuna from his two key positions in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) – as Secretary General and as Senate Minority Leader.
Kaluma said Sifuna’s leadership is no longer helping the party and accused him of creating division at a time when unity is needed.
In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, July 26, 2025, Kaluma did not hold back.
He said Sifuna had failed to provide steady leadership, especially during this period of political realignment between ODM and the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
“Sifuna’s continued stay as ODM Secretary General and as a leader of the Minority Party in the Senate is no longer tenable,” Kaluma wrote. “The faster he leaves, the better for him!”
But immediate his post was shared Kenyans on X hit back with some using very lurid references to Kaluma’s purported sexual experiences in a foreign country that have earned him the acronym “Opondo Kanyuma”.
Here are some samples of their reactions:
Collins Arap Simba —You’re yapping online and you were in kakamega why didn’t you speak..ujinga peleka mbali
Sajero—Sifuna is an eloquent individual only doing his job. Rubber stamp MPs who have been concerned with State House promises of development, are now unsettled when SG points out the mischief in their engagement with KK
Calvic —Stop the hate, the entire team knows you are only good at noise making and opening boots.
