The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that all pending by-elections across the country will be held on Thursday, 27th November 2025.
In a statement, the Commission said the gazettement process will be done in two phases.
The first batch, published on Friday, 8th August 2025, covers 16 ward seats across Samburu, Nandi, Tana River, Garissa, Nairobi City, Kakamega, Elgeyo Marakwet, Machakos, Narok, Kajiado, Uasin Gishu, Nyamira, and Turkana counties.
The second batch will be published in a Special Gazette on Monday, 11th August 2025, and will include:
One Senate seat in Baringo County
Six National Assembly seats in Banissa, Kasipul, Magarini, Malava, Mbeere North, and Ugunja constituencies
One County Assembly seat in Kabuchai/Chwele Ward, Bungoma County

The IEBC urged eligible voters to turn out in large numbers, emphasising that public participation is crucial for strengthening democracy. The Commission also cautioned Kenyans against misinformation, stressing that official updates will be shared only through its verified channels.
The polls will fill vacancies arising from resignations, impeachments, and the deaths of sitting leaders. Political parties are now expected to swiftly nominate candidates ahead of the campaign period.
IEBC assured the public that all logistical preparations — including security deployment and the training of election officials — are underway to deliver a smooth, transparent, and credible process.
