Siaya County — A high-stakes police operation in Yala on Friday exposed a criminal hideout, leading to the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of stolen goods and narcotics.
The raid, executed by officers from Yala Police Station after a tip-off from residents, unearthed a stash of electronic gadgets, household appliances, and assorted tools suspected to be loot from recent burglaries. Officers also seized several rolls of cannabis and related narcotics in the same operation.
The suspect, a man believed to be part of a wider crime syndicate, is in custody awaiting arraignment. His accomplices escaped during the swoop, triggering a manhunt. Police say the crackdown marks a significant step in dismantling criminal networks in the region.
“We thank members of the public for their vigilance and encourage continued cooperation to eradicate crime and drug abuse,” read a statement from the National Police Service.
Authorities have vowed to intensify surveillance and clamp down on gangs behind rising theft and drug peddling in Siaya County.
