The creative energy of Nairobi’s film scene came alive on Saturday, October 4, as Filmmakers Hangout marked its first anniversary at Ultimate City Nairobi, located at 209 State House Road.
The vibrant evening—held in collaboration with Guzman Productions—brought together filmmakers, producers, and cinema enthusiasts for a celebration of art, storytelling, and collaboration. The program featured film screenings, engaging discussions, and networking sessions, underscoring the growing momentum of Kenya’s film industry.
One of the highlights of the night was the screening of All the Little Things We Kill (2019), presented by acclaimed producer Adam Neutzsky-Wulff. The film, which stars Elizabeth Marvel and Jessica Sula, follows a college professor who takes her students hostage to demand the passage of a bill banning semi-automatic weapons—a powerful narrative exploring moral dilemmas and social activism.
Guests were treated to a cinematic experience complete with high-quality sound, comfortable seating, and light refreshments, setting a professional yet relaxed atmosphere.
Adam Neutzsky-Wulff, Group CEO of Drama Deluxe International Ltd, praised both the event and its venue:
“I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and Ultimate City offered a really good experience for my movie screening,” he said.
Amos Cheruiyot, CEO of Filmmakers Hangout, reflected on the platform’s journey and its growing impact.
“Last Saturday, we gathered at Ultimate City Studios to celebrate the first anniversary of Filmmakers Hangout,” he said. “Among the guests were Adam Neutzsky-Wulff, Jon Greenland, and others. The event was hosted by the talented Mugambi Ikiara. Thank you, Ultimate City, for facilitating us with space.”
Cheruiyot noted that the day’s program included a screening, a Q&A session, cake cutting, networking, and an after-party—activities that fostered both celebration and creative exchange.
“We are proud of the strides Filmmakers Hangout has taken since its inception. It has positively impacted many filmmakers. As we continue this journey, we hope to scale up and reach even more creatives,” he added.
Looking ahead, Ultimate City Nairobi aims to position itself as a premier destination for creative events, film screenings, cultural forums, and corporate gatherings—cementing its place at the heart of Nairobi’s creative renaissance.
