President William Ruto has revoked the appointment of former Mbeere North MP Charles Muriuki Njagagua as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Consolidated Bank of Kenya, barely months after he assumed the position.
The revocation was announced through a Gazette Notice dated Friday, October 3, 2025, in which the President exercised his authority under Section 6(1)(a) of the State Corporations Act, as read with Section 51(1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act.
“I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, revoke the appointment of Charles Muriuki Njagagua as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Consolidated Bank of Kenya Limited, with effect from the 3rd October, 2025,” the notice read in part.
However, in a swift move that signaled continued trust in the former legislator, President Ruto redeployed Njagagua to the Office of the President as Senior Advisor, Legislative Affairs.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page on Monday, October 6, Njagagua expressed gratitude to the Head of State for the new role, pledging full commitment to the administration’s goals.
“I wish to sincerely thank His Excellency, the President, Dr. William Samoei Ruto, for appointing me as the Senior Advisor, Legislative Affairs, Office of the President.
I am deeply honored by the confidence and trust that the President has placed in me through this appointment. I reaffirm my unwavering support to His Excellency’s transformative agenda and remain fully committed to serving the people of Kenya with dedication, integrity, and excellence,” he said.
Njagagua, a lawyer by profession, is expected to leverage his legislative experience to strengthen ties between the Executive and Parliament — a critical link as the Kenya Kwanza administration pushes through key policy and budgetary measures.
The former MP represented Mbeere North Constituency between 2017 and 2022 before losing to current Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku in the last general election.
Njagagua’s redeployment is part of what insiders describe as a broader realignment within parastatal leadership and advisory roles as President Ruto fine-tunes his team ahead of the 2027 elections.
The changes come amid a string of other appointments and revocations in recent weeks, signaling an active effort by State House to consolidate political and administrative loyalty within key state institutions.
