For months, a shadow of fear hung over Uasin Gishu County. Families bolted doors early, businesses shuttered at dusk, and whispers of a ruthless gang armed with an AK-47 spread like wildfire. That nightmare ended dramatically this week when Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives stormed a homestead, arrested three notorious suspects, and unearthed a fully loaded assault rifle hidden in a thicket.
The recovered AK-47 — magazine packed with 10 rounds of ammunition — was stashed on the property of Titus Wainaina Njoroge, alias Bikos, a hardened criminal with a rap sheet dating back to 2011, including robbery, violence, and two brazen jailbreaks. His alleged accomplices, Jeremiah Njuguna Kinyanjui (Chikudee) and Patrick Kinuthia Mwangi, were nabbed in the same intelligence-led swoop.
This gang didn’t just steal — they terrorized. On November 22, 2025, they allegedly held an entire family hostage, snatched their car, and forced frantic mobile money transfers. Worse still, detectives have linked them to the cold-blooded murder of Richard Rotich, a dedicated pharmacist at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, killed during a violent robbery on January 7, 2026.
Using fake identities to stay one step ahead, the trio thought they were untouchable. They weren’t. A precision joint operation — blending elite Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) analysts with DCI Headquarters operatives and local Uasin Gishu teams — brought them down.
And this isn’t a one-off victory.
The DCI is on a scorching hot streak, dismantling criminal networks nationwide with breathtaking speed:
– Days ago in Bomet, four suspects were arrested for a Sh40 million fake TSC recruitment scam that preyed on desperate job-seeking teachers.
– In Diani, a multi-agency raid netted a major narcotics trafficker and massive hauls of cannabis.
– A sprawling identity fraud ring issuing illegal IDs, passports, and more was crushed with dozens arrested in recent weeks.
– From highway robbers to drug mules swallowing cocaine pellets at JKIA, the arrests keep coming.
Residents are taking notice. “We finally feel safe again,” one Eldoret trader told reporters off-record. “The DCI is delivering.”

The three suspects are now in custody, facing serious charges as detectives hunt remaining gang members. This operation sends a thunderous message: no matter how armed or elusive, criminals will be tracked, cornered, and caged.
Kenyans are urged to keep the momentum going. Seen something suspicious? Don’t stay silent.
