Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba on Friday officially released the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results at AIC Chebisas High School in Eldoret.
Nearly one million candidates who sat the national exams can now access their results exclusively online, marking a departure from previous years when SMS services were available.
“Individual 2025 KCSE candidates’ examination results will be accessed online through a link on the KNEC website or directly via the URL https://results.knec.ac.ke/,” CS Ogamba announced.
To check results, candidates must enter their index number and any one of their registered names, accept the privacy and access notice, then search. The results are available immediately following the official release.
A total of 993,000 candidates sat the 2025 KCSE examinations, which were administered between October 21 and November 14, 2025, across centres nationwide. The process involved more than 110,000 personnel, including centre managers, supervisors, invigilators, and officers from the Ministries of Education and Interior.
CS Ogamba commended the personnel for their discipline, noting that many arrived at exam container depots as early as 4am or 5am to ensure timely distribution of materials. He also highlighted special arrangements made for candidates in hospital, ensuring “every willing learner got a chance to sit their papers despite personal challenges.”
In a move to resolve longstanding issues with withheld certificates, the Ministry of Education has introduced a new system: candidates will now collect their KCSE certificates from sub-county education offices rather than their former schools.
Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) CEO David Njengere urged candidates with results-related queries to lodge them through their heads of institutions within 30 days of the release. “Queries lodged after 30 days will attract a fee. Congratulations to all the candidates!” he said.
