Kerala, India — National Assembly Speaker Moses Masika Wetang’ula has paid a solidarity visit to Kwanza Constituency MP Hon. Ferdinand Wanyonyi, who is undergoing specialised treatment at KIMS Health Care Management Limited in Kerala, India, offering reassurance to Kenyans that the legislator is responding well to care.
During the visit, Speaker Wetang’ula was briefed by a multidisciplinary medical team led by Dr. Nitha J, a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Consultant, who confirmed that Hon. Wanyonyi is making steady progress under close medical supervision, with treatment and rehabilitation proceeding as planned.
“On behalf of the National Assembly and the people of Kenya, I thanked the doctors and staff at KIMS Health for their professionalism, dedication and high standards of care. Parliament stands in solidarity with Hon. Wanyonyi and his family as he continues his recovery,” Wetang’ula said.
The Speaker also held discussions with the hospital’s senior management, led by Dr. M. I. Sahadulla, Chairman and Managing Director, alongside Ms. Subina, Assistant General Manager for Operations. The team outlined KIMS Health’s specialised services, advanced diagnostic capabilities, and its growing stature as a regional and international referral centre.
Wetang’ula noted a broader trend among Kenyan patients seeking advanced medical attention abroad, observing that India—particularly Kerala—has emerged as a preferred destination due to a combination of high-quality care, cutting-edge medical technology, and relative affordability.
The visit underscored Parliament’s institutional support for one of its members while spotlighting the expanding medical ties between Kenya and India. As Hon. Wanyonyi continues his recovery, the Speaker’s remarks offered reassurance to constituents back home and reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to the welfare of its legislators.
