GOVERNOR James Orengo has warned that the state is working on a plot to deprive certain counties fuel levy funds.

Orengo says that Ruto led administration wants to control the fuel levy nationally and would release it to counties they have interests.

Orengo says that such a move must be resisted because the state would use skewed means to distribute the roads funds.

Speaking while launching the construction of Ukwala administration Office, Orengo said the constitution had given the division of revenue as the best formulae to distribute fuel levy.

He hailed ODM leader Raila Odinga for fighting for devolution and its devolved functions.

Raila had on Saturday faulted MPs for controlling Roads funds.

Raila said the role of MPs on roads is reduced to supervision and not to handle its funds as that is the role of the County government.

“Its so unfortunate that the stalemate has put certain roads in the county at pathetic state. People have been complaining to the County government over impassable roads but they don’t know that the resources for road maintenance are not coming to the County government.

Orengo was accompanied by County Secretary Joseph Ogutu, Roads Chief Officer Kevin Ajul, Finance Chief officer Jack Odinga, Trade Chief Officer Michael Oliech, and Host MCA’s; Andecus Oduor Odongo (Sifuyo west) and Peter Oduor(Ukwala)

Orengo at the same time laid the foundation of Ukwala Administration office.

Orengo said Ukwala was among three administrative offices prioritised for construction in this financial year.

Last Friday, he kicked off the construction of Yala administration office.

Orengo was laying foundation of Yala administration office.

“We are going to do administration office in Aram and Sega for our officers to serve the public effectively, “said Orengo adding that in Ukwala , the structure that is being implemented by Samco limited will match the status of the region.

Orengo said after two weeks, he shall come to Ukwala to lay a foundation stone of Ukwala hospital.

We are out to do away with old buildings at the health facility. We had also allocated an ambulance to Ukwala that was responding to the distress cases in the town.

Orengo added that his administration is Committed towards supporting initiatives that will transform the old town into a hub of economy.

“Ukwala is an old town that extended to Funyula and Budalangi so will not end term without facelifting it,”said Orengo.

He added that he had approved a good design that matches the town and would avail it to the public.

We have also in the budget that will do last mile water connectivity, “said Orengo adding that the initiative will see water reaching homes at Ukwala.

He assured the residents modern market that would be part of the facilities that shall transform region into a hub of economy.

He further requested locals not to hold onto their lands and instead avail them for development.

Ï have good plans for Ukwala and would not want to be derailed because of lands, “he added.
