Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Ong’ondo Were was last night shot dead by an assassin riding a motorcycle.
The legislator who is serving his second term in Parliament was held up in traffic when the gunman riding as pillion on a motorbike casually walked up to his window and shot him at close range.
A Breaking News report by Citizen television indicated that the legislator was shot at around 7:30 pm Wednesday night by two gunmen who were trailing him on a motorbike.

The incident took place on Ngong Road.

His driver sustained injuries and was rushed to hospital.
Although the motive for the assassination is yet-to-be-established, sources close to the family revealed that the MP recently expressed fear for his life.
Meanwhile, during a multi-agency operation in Moyale, law enforcement officers have apprehended two suspects and seized two AK-47 rifles and 34kgs of bhang.
The operation carried out in Butiye area, led to the arrest of one Adan Jilo. Authorities also recovered an AK-47 rifle, three rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, a magazine, and 16 kilograms of unrefined cannabis sativa from the suspect’s house.
In a similar operation, in Odda area, a woman known as Toto Issack Dika was arrested. Upon searching her home, the officers recovered another AK-47 rifle, two rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, a magazine, and 18 kilograms of cannabis sativa.
Both suspects, along with the recovered items are being held at the Moyale Police Station, where they are currently undergoing processing in preparation for arraignment.
