County Government of Siaya staff today held a colourful funeral procession for their departed colleague George Odhiambo who died in a road accident along the Naivasha-Nairobi highway last month.
Odhiambo who was a driver with the CGS died on the spot when the double-cab pick-up he was driving rammed head-on into a trailer.
The solemn funeral procession snaked it’s way from the County Referral Hospital morgue through Siaya town to St. Gabriel Legio Maria Church in Wagai.
There was a brief stopover for mass at the church before the procession proceeded to the deceased’s home in Bar-K’Okong’o village in Wagai, Gem sub-County. The body will be interred on 24th Saturday May, 2025 under the Legio Maria Church of East Africa.
Senior County personnel including CECM for Education Dr. Edgar Otumba, his Chief Officer Martin Ogeda were part of the procession.
Also present was the Director for Transport George Obare, Director Revenue Moses Keya, Deputy Director Human Resource Management Elizabeth Otieno, Welfare Officer Vitalice Gwaoo, and a number of colleagues from the County Government staff.
The late Odhiambo was known as a cheerful person who easily made friends and had a way of striking rapport even with his seniors.
He leaves behind a widow and several children.
