David Macharia Gatana a Personal Assistant to Juja MP George Koimburi has revealed that the abduction of his boss outside a church in Kiambu on Sunday 25 May, 2025 was stage-managed.

Police Spokesman Muchiri Nyaga has revealed that following grilling by detectives the PA admitted that he was in the car together with a lady identified as Njeri who was the driver of the white Subaru Forester XT that abducted the MP.

He is said to have dropped the MP off at a hotel where he had refreshments and spent the night in the company of his two abductors alleged to be plainclothes officers.

The stage-managed abduction was so real that the wife of Koimburi who attempted to block the abductors sustained visible injuries on her wrists.

Also arrested to help with the ongoing investigations was Cyrus Kieru Muhia believed to be the person under whose name the abduction vehicle is registered.

“He is the owner of a Subaru Forester, which is alleged to have blocked the MP, leading to the latter’s purported abduction”, said the Police Spokesman.

Police also questioned Juja Constituency CDF Chairman Peter Kiratu who is believed to have played a role in the abduction.

Koimburi was allegedly abducted outside a church at Mugutha, Kiambu County, on Sunday.

He was subsequently discovered by the same lady identified as Njeri dumped at a coffee plantation in Kiambu on Monday.

David Macharia Gatana was arrested by real plainclothes officers in a Subaru Outback at around 1:00 PM on Tuesday night. A video has been shared online of his children wailing miserably in the background as the real arrest takes place.

News of the stage-managed abduction have been received differently in various quarters. While the common residents of Juja sighed with relief, law enforcement agencies are now closing in on the legislator who has been on their radar for a while in connection with a land fraud case.

The stage-managed abduction has also dented the image of Koimburi’s confidante and CDP Party leader Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua mtu ya ukweli.

Skeptics are however questioning how refined a thespian the Juja legislator is that he should lose the use of his vocal chords even now when he is in hospital.

Should it eventually transpire that Koimburi actually abducted himself then the integrity of other members in the August National Assembly will sharply be subjected to scrutiny whenever they claim State persecution.
