One hundred and fifty traders who are members of the Sega Duke Traders Association today received a transformative boost as Siaya Governor James Aggrey Bob Orengo conducted a fundraiser to support their enterprise.
The small-scale traders who include market vendors, shopkeepers, and hawkers at Sega Market benefitted from the financial boost as the Governor keeps true to the 9-point Nyalore manifesto which outlined uplifting living standards of the less fortunate in society.
The initiative which falls squarely within the Governor’s economic blueprint to pool resources and provide stimulus packages to promote middle and low income earners across Siaya County’s six sub-counties has now been rolled out in earnest and the coming weeks the governor is set to visit other groups.
The county government has allocated funds in the 2024/25 budget to construct markets, including Boro, Siaya (in collaboration with the national government), and Bondo Mitumba markets, with the latter recently commissioned.

Last month, millions of shillings were disbursed to women traders at Sega Market to boost their businesses and incomes. Additionally, high-mast lighting has been installed at markets to improve security and extend trading hours.
The event was attended by key leaders, including Siaya County Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. George Okode, CECM for Health and Sanitation Dr. Martin K’Onyango, Chief Officer for Governance, Administration, and ICT Hon. Walter Okelo, and former nominated MCA Hon. Winnie Mercy, among others.
In other news just in President Ruto and Homabay Governor Gladys Wanga early this evening thrilled guests who had been invited to a grassroots leaders meeting at State Lodge Homabay with their refined dance moves.
The duo who began small went into a well choreographed complex steps dance that left the audience mesmerized.

Ruto’s four-day tour culminates in a Madaraka Day address to the nation from the multi-million Raila Odinga Stadium in Homabay tomorrow June 1st.
Leaders from the Greater Nyanza have seen the import of coordinating with the national government to spur domestic development agendas.
