Siaya County Assembly Speaker George Okode has yet again come out to strongly support Governor James Aggrey Bob Orengo for what he called a steadfast and unwavering dedication to development rather than engaging in divisive politics.
Okode who accompanied the Governor to a burial in Siaya said those who were opposed to Orengo should hold their horses since the Governor spoke as the voice of the people and that of Raila Amollo Odinga.
Speaking at the burial of Mzee Charles Ajuma Amolo in Kang’o Nyamira, Bondo Sub-County, Mama Ida Odinga called on all elected leaders in Siaya and the neighbouring counties to assist young people to earn a decent living and support political leadership in development across the country.
She warned youth against over-indulgence in alcohol and substance abuse.

Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga said that contrary to the perception on social media, they work hand-in-hand with Governor James Aggrey Bob Orengo with an aim of delivering development and bringing services closer to the people of Siaya.
Oburu who was seated next to the Governor kept bending across again and again in some indeterminate private conversation.
Mzee Charles Ajuma Amollo is a cousin to the family patriarch Arjulus Ajuma Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
Governor James Orengo urged leaders to continue in the fight to entrench devolution and strengthen ODM Party as those were the only qualities that would show they truly support Raila. Orengo equated ODM Party to the giant African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa which nurtured Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu.
Making reference to Bondo as the business capital of Siaya County the Governor called for unity of purpose among leaders.
“Bondo has a unique status as the commercial capital for the county government of Siaya. We must work in unity to spur developments like hospitals, markets and a good road network in this region” said the Governor.
He exuded confidence that good sense will prevail and development not be sacrificed at the altar of politics.
Speaking at the same function Raila jokingly reminded the mourners that it was not yet time for campaigns and aspiring candidates should support elected leaders to fast-track development initiatives.
Addressing the tense political atmosphere in Siaya Raila said it would be beneficial for people aspiring for political seats to encourage the electorate to register in large numbers as members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party.
“It’s not yet time for campaigns. Let’s stop unnecessary tensions,” said Raila.
He expressed confidence that collaboration with the national government led by President William Samoei Ruto meant well for the region and would bear fruit.
He called on the Luo community to support the current regime and forget about the opposition divisive agenda of incitement and brewing discontent.
Raila maintained that there is unity in ODM Party and insisted that Governor Orengo be supported in order to realize his development agenda for the people of Siaya.
Leaders present included, Cabinet Secretary for Energy James Opiyo Wandayi, Principal Secretary Joe Ager, Advisor Office of the President, Jacob Fikirini Youth Affairs who announced several National Government initiatives for the benefit of youth and creation of job opportunities in the region.
Also in attendance were MPs Samuel Atandi (Alego-Usonga), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo) and Dr. James Nyikal (Seme).
Others were Speakers George Okode (Siaya) and Ken Ngondi (Nairobi) among other distinguished leaders, MCAs, aspirants and guests.
Orengo also made a physical presence and offered prayers at the burial of Charles Owino in Ugenya Masiro and Mama Agnetta Sumbo in North Alego.
