Kenya’s Harambee Stars are 90 minutes away from making CHAN 2024 history as they prepare to face Morocco in a decisive Group A clash on Sunday evening.
Head coach Benni McCarthy has rung the changes in the starting lineup, banking on fresh legs and tactical tweaks to outwit the formidable North Africans. The Stars enter the match unbeaten — following a 1-0 victory over DR Congo and a gritty 1-1 draw against Angola despite playing with 10 men for over 70 minutes.
Kenya currently sit top of Group A with four points, one ahead of Morocco, who have played just one match — a convincing 2-0 triumph over Angola. Victory tonight would take Kenya to seven points, making them the second team after hosts Algeria to secure a quarter-final spot.

A draw would still leave McCarthy’s men in the driving seat, while defeat would ignite a four-way battle with DR Congo and Angola still in contention.

Starting XI vs Morocco:
Byrne Omondi (GK), Mohammed Siraji Siraj, Mike Kibwage, Edward Omondi Otieno, Bonface Muchiri, Chrispine Erambo, Lewis Bandi, Ryan Wesley Ogam, Ben Stanley Omondi, Manzur Okwaro Suleiman, Sylvester Owino.
Subs: Shikhallo Faruk, Abud Omar Khamis Abud, Alphonse Otieno Omija, Bryan Migiro, Alpha Chris Onyango, Austine Odongo, Austine Odhiambo Otieno, Felix Oluoch, Sepstianos Wekesa, David Sakwa Nyongesa, Kevin Okumu, Daniel Sakari Macheso.
Kick-off is at 7 PM local time, with Kenyan fans expected to paint the stands red, green, and black in what could be the country’s most significant CHAN night yet.
