Authorities in Kiambu County have launched investigations into the sudden and puzzling death of a Limuru businessman, sending shockwaves through the community.
Paul Kimani Karanja, 50, reportedly returned home late in the night and told his wife that he had travelled to Kitui in search of spiritual intervention for his struggling butchery business. Moments later, he excused himself to use the toilet — but never came out alive.
According to family members, Karanja collapsed inside the washroom, where his body was discovered hours later. Police officers called to the scene moved the body to a local mortuary. An autopsy is expected in the coming days to establish the exact cause of death.
Detectives confirmed that as part of their probe, they will visit the church in Kitui where Karanja is said to have sought prayers. Investigators have not ruled out health complications, spiritual practices, or other factors that may have contributed to his sudden demise.

His death has stirred anxiety in Limuru Town, where he was well-known in business circles. Residents described him as a hardworking man whose recent struggles had left him desperate for solutions.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and allow the investigations to take their course, promising a comprehensive report once the post-mortem and inquiries are complete.
