The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has officially invited aspirants seeking to fly the party flag in upcoming by-elections to submit their applications following the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s (IEBC) declaration of vacancies in two parliamentary constituencies and several county assembly wards.
In a notice issued Friday, ODM’s National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) Chairperson Emily Awita confirmed that interested candidates have until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025, to lodge their applications at Chungwa House, the party’s headquarters in Nairobi.
“Pursuant to the declaration by IEBC of vacancies in various electoral areas across the country, vide Gazette Notice No. 11160 of August 8, 2025, the NECC hereby gives notice to all interested applicants… to submit applications in the prescribed format,” the notice read.

Vacant Seats
The vacant parliamentary slots are Ugunja and Kasipul constituencies. County assembly vacancies have been declared in:
Mumbuni North, Kisa East, Lake Zone, Nanaam and Chewani wards,
Angata Nanyokie, Narok Town, Purko, Nyansiongo, Nyamaiya, Ekerenyo, and
Kariobangi North ward.
Nomination Fees
ODM has set nomination fees as follows:
Parliamentary seats: Ksh250,000 for male aspirants, and Ksh125,000 for women, youth and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
County assembly seats: Ksh50,000 for male aspirants, and Ksh25,000 for women, youth and PWDs.
Application forms are available at Chungwa House on Loiyangalani Drive, Lavington, or downloadable via the party’s website.
Meanwhile, the electoral body announced that Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will resume on Monday, September 29, 2025.
IEBC Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon urged newly eligible voters and those yet to register to take advantage of the window, warning that low youth registration remains a challenge to democratic participation.
“Registering to vote is not just a constitutional right — it is a powerful act of responsibility. As we look ahead to the General Election on August 10, 2027, let us be the generation that stands up, shows up, and votes for Kenya,” Ethekon stated.
The by-elections are expected to set the tone for 2027, with ODM keen to stamp its dominance in its strongholds, while rivals eye a chance to upset the balance.
