Nairobi motorists should brace for traffic disruptions today Saturday, August 30, as the city hosts the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) final at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
In a traffic advisory issued Friday, the National Police Service (NPS) announced that several roads will be closed from 6:00 a.m. to ease movement around the stadium.
Motorists travelling between the CBD and Thika Road will be diverted to Kiambu Road at Exit 4, with a roadblock mounted at Muthaiga. Those using Thika Superhighway to Mwiki are advised to follow the Ruaka–Baba Dogo–Lucky Summer–Nairobi River–Mwiki route.
Traffic from Thika, Juja and Ruiru heading towards the city will be redirected to the Northern Bypass or Kiambu Road, with another roadblock at Ruiru Interchange. Vehicles from Githurai into the city will use the Githurai 44–Kiambu Road route.

Vehicles from the CBD to Kasarani without access passes will only use service lanes at Exit 7 and Exit 8.
NPS assured the public that additional officers will be deployed to guide motorists and maintain order, warning that stern action will be taken against traffic offenders.
The final is expected to draw thousands of fans and high-profile dignitaries, including President William Ruto, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, CAF President Patrice Motsepe, and Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina.
On the pitch, Morocco will battle Madagascar for the continental crown. Morocco booked their spot after edging Senegal 5-3 on penalties, while Madagascar stunned Sudan with a late extra-time winner to reach their first-ever CHAN final.
