Kenya Power has announced that parts of five counties, including Nyeri, will experience planned power interruptions on Monday, September 1, to facilitate routine maintenance.
In a statement issued on Sunday, August 31, the utility company said the temporary outages are part of efforts to enhance service reliability and ensure a more stable power supply.
Bomet County
From 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sotik and its environs will be without electricity. Areas to be affected include Sotik Town, Evergreen Tea Factory, Manaret Green Resource, Sotik Water, KCC Sotik, Sotik Tea Factory, and Giftmatt Sotik. Also impacted will be Kaplong Market, Ndanai Market, Tembwo, Chebilat Market, Soimet, Kapletundo, Kamureito, Chebole, Kanusin, Galaxy, Kapkures, and neighboring customers.
Nyamira County
Power will be interrupted between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in Nyamira Town, Nyamaiya, and Kebirigo. Key institutions to be affected include Nyamira Referral Hospital, Kinara Hospital, Rangenyo Mission, Kebirigo Tea Factory, Sang’anyi Tea Factory, Sironga Girls, as well as several markets and adjacent customers.

Nyeri County
From 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., areas around Ring Road, Kamakwa, and Kandara will face interruptions. The blackout will affect Kamakwa Water Works, Baraka Estate, Muga Academy, Kamuyu Coffee Factory, Mt. Kenya Primary School, Gitathiini, and surrounding neighborhoods.
Laikipia County
Electricity will be switched off between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in Muthaiga Estate, Fair Mount Safari Club, and nearby areas. Other affected zones include Kanyoni Estate, Sweet Waters, Mirera, Marura, Ichuga, Kwa Mwea, Old House Hotel, and The Nickolee Hotel.
Kwale County
Residents of Meli Kubwa Town, Mackinnon Town, and surrounding areas will also be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Kenya Power urged customers in the affected regions to make necessary arrangements and assured them that power would be restored promptly once maintenance works are complete.
