Safina Party leader Jimi Wanjigi has once again demonstrated his unmatched knack for political mobilization and financial firepower, pulling off a dramatic coup by unveiling Florence Atieno, popularly known as Atis Dollar, as the Party’s new National Women Coordinator.
Atis Dollar’s defection from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party to Safina is more than a symbolic win—it’s a calculated strike. Coming just a week after Wanjigi formally assumed the party’s leadership, the move underscores Safina’s intent to become a formidable force, powered by Wanjigi’s well-known ability to marshal resources, grassroots loyalty, and big-name defections.

Wanjigi’s Mobilization Machine in Action
For decades, Wanjigi has built a reputation as the man with both the money and the mastery to tilt political tides. Thursday’s announcement in Nairobi showed exactly that: Safina’s rising momentum, buoyed by a leader who combines financial clout with organizational precision.

“We are excited to welcome Florence into Safina,” Wanjigi declared before a raucous crowd. “To the mothers of Nairobi: you are the backbone of this nation. Real change is needed, and Safina is that change.”

He pledged radical reforms under Safina’s F.I.S.T. Agenda, promising to reject odious debts, cut VAT from 16% to 5%, abolish school fees in primary and secondary schools, and guarantee universal healthcare.
“This is how we will bring true economic liberation to our people,” Wanjigi thundered, reinforcing his narrative of financial responsibility and economic revolution.
Atis Dollar: A Grassroots Power Broker
Florence Atieno, celebrated for her resilience and firebrand activism, has been a household name in ODM politics. Her shift to Safina signals more than personal ambition—it is a transfer of grassroots loyalty.
“Women are the backbone of our families and the strength of our communities,” she said. “Yet we face rising food prices and joblessness, all because of mismanagement. I joined Safina because it recognizes our struggles and dares to offer an economic revolution.”
By aligning herself with Wanjigi, Atis Dollar is expected to turbocharge Safina’s outreach to women voters, a constituency often mobilized but rarely prioritized in mainstream politics.
Otieno: The End of Tyranny is Near
Deputy Party Leader Willis Otieno reinforced Safina’s mission to dismantle what he termed “the tyranny Kenyans have endured.”
“Florence represents the radical change we want for this country,” he declared. “Kenya has suffered long enough, but Safina is here to lead the revolution. Order will come from the people upwards, not imposed from above.”
The Wanjigi Factor: Money Meets Mobilization
With Atis Dollar now on his side, Wanjigi is betting on a winning formula: his financial war chest, his knack for strategic mobilization, and the symbolic power of bringing seasoned women leaders under Safina’s banner.
Safina’s timing is razor sharp. With ODM reeling from internal fractures and Kenya Kwanza facing growing disillusionment over the cost of living, Wanjigi is leveraging his resources to fill the gap—and doing so with headline-grabbing moves.
Florence Atieno’s defection may be the first of many high-profile shifts as Safina positions itself as the home for Kenya’s economic revolution. For now, one truth is inescapable: Jimi Wanjigi is flexing his muscle, and the political establishment is taking notice.
