Siaya Town, September 26, 2025 – The game has changed in Siaya! Governor James Orengo’s administration has partnered with Betika na Community and Bingwa Fest in a high-energy drive to turn sports into a serious income-generating venture for the youth of Nyanza.
From football, basketball, rugby to volleyball, the County is betting big on raw talent – and now, Siaya’s young stars have a new home: the ultra-modern Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium and Siaya KMTC Grounds, both fully revamped and buzzing with promise.
“This is not just about tournaments. It’s about careers, opportunities, and giving our young people the stage to shine,” declared Governor Orengo, as he unveiled the partnership to an electrified crowd.
Million-Shilling Prize Up for Grabs
In what has already sent shockwaves of excitement across the region, the tournament series promises a KSh 1 million grand prize for the overall winners. Other categories across the different disciplines will also scoop hefty cash rewards, ensuring no talent is left unrewarded.
Universities, community-based teams, organized youth groups – all above 18 years – are set to battle it out, with bragging rights and life-changing rewards on the line.
Siaya’s New Sporting Jewel
The Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium has transformed into a sporting paradise. Spacious playing fields, ring-fenced security, modern changing rooms, spectator terraces, and a VIP pavilion make it one of the most advanced county stadiums in the region.
For years, Siaya has produced sports icons against the odds. Now, with these world-class facilities, the county is finally matching talent with infrastructure.
Public-Private Power Play
This is sports development with muscle. Betika na Community is renowned nationwide for investing in grassroots talent, while Bingwa Fest has built a reputation as a high-octane platform for discovering the stars of tomorrow. Their collaboration with Orengo’s county government marks a bold move to transform sports into a thriving industry.
“We believe sports can pay. We want to see Siaya youth moving from community pitches to national stadiums, and from tournaments to professional leagues,” said a Betika representative.
With scouts already lining up to watch the games, hotels preparing for increased visitors, and businesses gearing up for match-day sales, the ripple effect is undeniable. Siaya is not just hosting tournaments – it’s building a sports economy.
And for the youth? The message is loud and clear: polish your boots, sharpen your skills, and get ready to play for glory – because Siaya is officially the new home of champions.
