A foreign national has sparked outrage after being captured on CCTV allegedly assaulting uniformed police officers inside a report office at a coastal police station—moments after his arrest for attacking his girlfriend in a hotel room.
According to police, the man, whose nationality was not immediately disclosed, was arrested for multiple offences, including assault, malicious damage to property, and creating a disturbance at a hotel where he was staying.
A video seen by SIAYA TODAY shows the visibly intoxicated suspect, dressed in shorts, confronting and hurling insults at officers on duty. At one point, he is seen blowing mucus toward one of the officers. Despite the aggression, the two officers—a man and a woman—remain remarkably calm, maintaining professionalism throughout the encounter.
Police reports indicate that the incident began when hotel staff raised an alarm over a violent disturbance involving a guest who had allegedly assaulted his partner in their room. Responding officers found that hotel security had rescued the injured woman, who was rushed to hospital for treatment.
The suspect is said to have barricaded himself inside the room, damaging property before surrendering following a prolonged standoff. Once subdued and arrested, officers reportedly discovered a whitish substance suspected to be narcotic drugs in his possession.
The man was then taken to the police station for booking, but the situation escalated when he turned violent again—attacking officers in the report office. CCTV footage of the confrontation has since circulated online, drawing public praise for the officers’ restraint and professionalism in the face of provocation.
Police described the suspect as “uncooperative and highly intoxicated,” confirming that he will face multiple charges, including:
Assault causing actual bodily harm
Malicious damage to property
Creating a disturbance
Possession of suspected narcotic drugs
Misconduct within a police building
Samples of the suspected drugs have been forwarded to the Government Chemist for analysis.
Authorities have launched a full investigation into the incident and reiterated that assaulting police officers performing their duties is a serious criminal offence under Kenyan law.
As the video continues to circulate online, the incident has reignited conversations about the treatment of law enforcement officers and the growing number of violent confrontations involving intoxicated or drugged suspects.
Investigations are ongoing.
