Kenya woke up to an intimate and faith-filled moment on Sunday as First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto penned a deeply personal birthday message to President William Ruto, marking his 59th birthday with words that blended love, leadership and prayer.
In a touching message that has since drawn admiration across social media and political circles, the First Lady described the Head of State not just as the President of Kenya, but as “the man God entrusted to our family and our nation.”
“My dear Bill, happy birthday! Today, I thank God for the gift of your life, for the journey we have walked together, for your courage in moments of uncertainty, and for the steady love and discipline with which you carry the weight of leadership,” Rachel wrote.
Reflecting on their decades-long journey together, Mama Rachel marvelled at the growth they have experienced as a couple, noting that President Ruto’s years have been marked by transformation — both as a husband and as a national leader.

She praised his unwavering commitment to Kenya’s well-being, acknowledging the often unseen sacrifices that come with high office.
“I have seen your heart for Kenya, your tireless commitment to serve, and the quiet sacrifices that often go unseen,” she said, adding a prayer for his health, peace and renewed strength.
In a message steeped in faith, the First Lady prayed for divine wisdom and protection over President Ruto as he continues steering the country through challenging and defining moments.
“May God grant you good health, inner peace, and renewed strength. May He surround you with wisdom, protect your steps, and reward your labour with hope for our nation and joy in our family,” she added.
She concluded by celebrating him not only as a leader, but also as a father, husband and pillar of their family.
The President’s birthday sparked an outpouring of goodwill messages from leaders across the political divide.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula hailed Ruto’s “renewed vision and boundless opportunities” for Kenya, while Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei declared that under Ruto’s leadership, “the road to Singapore remains unstoppable.”
Tourism CS Rebecca Miano credited the President’s vision for Kenya’s tourism boom, and Health CS Aden Duale wished him strength and wisdom for continued transformative leadership. COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli prayed for the successful implementation of policies that uplift Kenyan workers.
