A major breakthrough in the fight against mobile phone theft has been recorded in Trans Nzoia County after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested two suspects and recovered over 200 stolen devices in a carefully coordinated operation.
The high-stakes raid, carried out in Lessos, followed actionable intelligence that led officers from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), with support from Matisi Police Station, to a residence near Airport Church. It is there that Silas Wanjala, 24, and Job Kiberenge Sikuku, 28, were apprehended.
Inside the premises, detectives uncovered a staggering haul of 213 mobile phones of various makes and models, pointing to what investigators believe is a well-organized syndicate dealing in stolen electronics. Also recovered was a Pandora machine, a sophisticated device suspected to be used for reprogramming and unlocking phones, along with three HP laptops, all now secured as key exhibits.
Authorities say the arrests mark a significant step toward dismantling a wider criminal network believed to be behind the illicit trade. Forensic analysis is underway to trace the origins of the devices and uncover additional suspects linked to the operation.
The two suspects remain in custody and are expected to be arraigned once investigations are complete.
Reaffirming its resolve, the DCI emphasized its commitment to crushing organized crime rings and curbing the black market for stolen electronic devices, which has increasingly become a security and economic concern.

Members of the public are urged to stay alert and report suspicious activities through anonymous channels.
