Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has delivered a decisive blow to Al-Shabaab’s logistics network, seizing 725 suspected terror combat uniforms and over 1,400 T-shirts in a targeted intelligence-led operation in Eastleigh’s KBS Garage area early on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

Acting on leads from a major cross-border interception, DCI Starehe detectives, in close coordination with the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU), raided logistics hubs and recovered 11 bales — each packed with 60 full camouflage uniforms and 120 T-shirts — plus an additional bale containing 65 uniforms and 120 T-shirts.

The breakthrough began on April 6 when Jubaland Security Forces in Dhobley, Somalia, seized 25 bales of identical Al-Shabaab-style fatigues destined for a suspect now in custody. Kenyan investigators quickly traced part of the shipment back to Nairobi.

The consignment, imported from China through the Port of Mombasa under false pretenses, was cleared via Safe Link Cargo at Soma Towers. It was then moved by individuals identified as Sharif and Abdikadir, with Gaani Parcel Express manager Omar Elmi Issack arranging temporary storage at a neighbouring facility when space ran out. Employee Abdiftah Aden Muhammed at Safe Link Cargo has been linked to the clearance process.

Several key suspects are now in ATPU custody, providing vital information as the DCI works to fully dismantle the wider network, which reportedly involved up to 37 bales.

This rapid, intelligence-driven success underscores the DCI’s relentless focus on choking terror financing and supply lines before they reach militants. By acting swiftly on regional intelligence, the Directorate has once again prevented potential threats from materializing inside Kenya.

Investigations remain active, with more arrests anticipated.
