A night out at a Siaya nightclub ended in tragedy after 24-year-old Brian Odhiambo was attacked outside the venue and later died from his injuries.
Detectives in Ugenya Sub-county are investigating the suspected murder. Odhiambo was assaulted on April 4, 2026, while socialising with his brother at Club Lidega. The pair could not afford the entrance fee and stayed outside, where they were confronted by a group of unknown attackers.
The brothers fled in different directions and later reunited at home, both injured. They opted to self-medicate instead of seeking hospital treatment or reporting the incident to police.
Odhiambo’s condition deteriorated on April 6. He was rushed to Ambira Sub-County Hospital and then referred to Siaya County Referral Hospital, where he died while receiving treatment. His body is at the hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem.
Police said detectives are working to identify and arrest those responsible for the fatal assault.
The incident has sparked concern among Ugenya residents over safety around local nightlife spots.

Separate Siaya Killing
In a separate case, police arrested a man after his 65-year-old uncle, Joseph Otieno Nderma, was found dead at a homestead in Ngungu Village, Kabura Uhuyi. The suspect claimed self-defence during a 4 a.m. confrontation involving his uncle and two unidentified men. He disarmed his uncle of a panga and later handed it over to police. The body showed bruises and signs of a struggle. The suspect remains in custody.
Both incidents highlight rising violence in Siaya County. Anyone with information on the club assault is urged to contact police.
