A dramatic stoppage-time equaliser from Richarlison rescued Tottenham Hotspur from another painful defeat as they battled to a 1–1 draw against Liverpool FC in an intense Premier League clash at Anfield on Sunday.
The Brazilian forward struck in the 90th minute to cancel out an early free-kick from Dominik Szoboszlai, earning Spurs a precious point and halting a miserable run of defeats that had left them hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone.
Liverpool started brightly under manager Arne Slot and broke the deadlock midway through the first half thanks to a moment of brilliance from Szoboszlai.
After a foul on Alexis Mac Allister about 25 yards from goal, the Hungarian midfielder curled a powerful free-kick toward goal. Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario got a hand to the effort but could not keep it out as the ball slipped into the net.
It was Szoboszlai’s fourth direct free-kick goal of the season and looked set to secure victory for the hosts.
Liverpool controlled large spells of the game, though their finishing lacked ruthlessness. Slot even opted to start talisman Mohamed Salah on the bench, giving teenage winger Rio Ngumoha a rare Premier League start.

Tottenham, managed by interim boss Igor Tudor, arrived at Anfield under immense pressure. A lengthy injury list and a damaging run of form had seen them slide toward the bottom of the table.
Yet despite the adversity, Spurs showed resilience. Richarlison came close before halftime with two headers, both denied by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
The visitors continued to push in the second half, refusing to collapse despite Liverpool’s dominance.
The breakthrough finally came in dramatic fashion in the closing moments.
A long ball forward caused confusion in Liverpool’s defence, allowing substitute Randal Kolo Muani to knock the ball into Richarlison’s path. The Brazilian’s strike was far from perfect, but his scuffed effort trickled past Alisson and into the corner, sparking wild celebrations among the travelling Spurs fans.
The late goal secured Tottenham their first point under Tudor and ended a run of consecutive defeats, though their winless streak in the league stretched further.
The draw could prove significant in Tottenham’s fight for survival. The point lifted Spurs slightly clear of fellow strugglers near the bottom of the table and provided a morale boost after weeks of disappointing results.
For Liverpool, however, it was another frustrating afternoon. Despite taking the lead and controlling much of the game, they were unable to close it out and were punished by Spurs’ late persistence.
As the Premier League season enters its decisive phase, Liverpool will rue the missed opportunity, while Tottenham will hope Richarlison’s dramatic equaliser becomes the spark that reignites their campaign.
