Ruto Hails UDA’s Clean Sweep in By-Elections: “On Course to First-World Kenya”

President William Ruto has celebrated a decisive victory for his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party following a clean sweep in Thursday’s fiercely contested by-elections, securing one parliamentary seat and three ward seats across diverse regions of Kenya.

In a statement issued shortly after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared the results, President Ruto extended heartfelt thanks to voters in Isiolo South Constituency, West Kabras Ward, Muminji Ward, and Evurore Ward for their unwavering support of UDA candidates.

“Thank you Isiolo South, West Kabras, Muminji, and Evurore for standing firmly with the United Democratic Alliance in yesterday’s by-elections,” Ruto said. “We are firmly on course to building a solid national political party whose vision goes beyond generations as we move Kenya to the first-world.”

The President congratulated the newly elected representatives by name, emphasizing the trust placed in them by the electorate:

– Tubi Mohammed (Isiolo South Constituency), who clinched the parliamentary seat with a strong margin.
– Elphas Kainanga Shalakha (West Kabras Ward, Kakamega County).
– Duncan Muratia Nyaga (Evurore Ward, Embu County).
– Peterson Njeru (Muminji Ward, Embu County).

UDA’s triumphs spanned key areas: the high-stakes Isiolo South parliamentary race saw Tubi Mohammed secure 7,352 votes, outpacing rivals significantly. In Embu County’s Mbeere North, Duncan Muratia Nyaga dominated Evurore with 7,853 votes, while Peterson Njeru won Muminji. Elphas Kainanga Shalakha claimed West Kabras in Kakamega with 3,317 votes.

These results mark a significant boost for UDA and President Ruto’s administration, demonstrating broad-based appeal across ethnic and regional lines—from arid northern Kenya to western strongholds and central regions. Analysts view the wins as a strong indicator of grassroots momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, reinforcing UDA’s narrative of inclusive development and bottom-up economic transformation.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and other UDA leaders, including Musalia Mudavadi, echoed the congratulations, crediting voter turnout, disciplined campaigns, and the party’s vision for the successes.

The victories come amid ongoing national efforts to strengthen political structures and deliver on promises of prosperity. President Ruto’s message underscores UDA’s ambition to evolve into a truly national movement capable of sustaining long-term progress.

As Kenya continues its journey toward becoming a first-world nation, these by-election outcomes signal growing confidence in the ruling party’s direction and leadership.
