In a dramatic courtroom development that has sent shockwaves through social media circles, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has pushed for an urgent age verification of a young female TikToker arrested in a major heroin trafficking case alongside her co-accused, Amir Latif.
The stunning request came during Monday’s appearance before Resident Magistrate Hon. Green Odera, highlighting the prosecution’s aggressive stance against drug syndicates plaguing Kenya’s Coast region.
Prosecutors successfully argued for an age assessment and a full social inquiry report on the female suspect, whose identity has been kept under wraps pending confirmation of her age. The court immediately directed the Nyali Sub-County Children’s Officer to investigate whether she qualifies as a minor – a move that could dramatically alter the trajectory of the high-profile case.
The pair faces serious charges under Section 4(a)(ii) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act No. 4 of 1994 (as amended in 2022) for allegedly jointly trafficking 109.17 grams of heroin in Maweni, Nyali Sub-County, on February 2, 2026. The seized drugs carry an estimated street value of KSh 327,510.
Principal Prosecution Counsel Purity Musembi vehemently opposed any release on bond, stressing the severity of narcotics offenses and the risk to ongoing investigations. The court ordered a formal affidavit opposing bail to be filed promptly.
Until the age determination is complete, the magistrate remanded Amir Latif to Central Police Station while committing the female suspect to Likoni Children’s Remand Home – a clear indication of caution regarding her possible juvenile status.
The case underscores Kenya’s intensified crackdown on drug trafficking networks along the Coast, where heroin and other hard drugs continue to fuel crime and addiction.
The matter returns to court for mention on February 18, 2026, when the age report and next steps are expected to be addressed.
This unfolding saga serves as a stark reminder: the glamorous online world of TikTok fame can collide harshly with reality when hard drugs enter the picture. Authorities are sending a clear message – no one is above the law.
