A number of vocal members of the Siaya County Assembly have now come out to strongly castigate mounting calls to impeach Governor James Orengo saying they are driven by selfish interests and have been sponsored by players outside the county.
“Telling fellow leaders the truth does not amount to defiance,” said East Asembo MCA Gordon Onguuru, adding “Just like any other Kenyan Orengo has a right to speak out his mind, and we should not therefore crucify him for that.”
Onguuru liked some Luo MPs who are criticizing the Governor of trying to mourn louder than the bereaved. In apparent reference to Alego-Usonga MP Samuel Atandi who made a charade of himself in Parliament and had to be called to order by the Speaker, Onguuru wondered why the Luo leaders were chastising Orengo louder than other communities.
“Our MPs need to ask themselves why they are the only ones making noise in this whole matter. We have not seen our party leader call out Orengo and Sifuna over their remarks. So why the zeal in attacking the Governor, unless they have other motives.”

Political heavyweight and Yimbo East MCA Francis Otiato rubbished calls for Orengo impeachment saying whatever the Governor said at the burial of the late George Nyang’ira was the plain truth.
According to Otiato, Raila’s ODM Party is keeping the government alive otherwise Nyanza counties and Siaya, in particular, are yet to benefit from the projects that the president promised to deliver.
“We have several stalled projects in Siaya, including the Dhogoye Bridge, Bondo-Nango-Liunda road and Siriwo Rice Milling plant, among others,” said Otiato.
Both MCA’s laughed at the reaction of a group calling themselves the Ramogi Professionals Caucus wondering if it exists at all apart from surfacing to talk ill of the Governor.
The calls for impeachment of Orengo are more resounding on social media than they are on the ground where residents of Siaya are said to be solidly behind their Governor.
Orengo who called for Luo leaders not to join the bandwagon of presidential cheerleaders blindly but to ask for equitable distribution of the national cake has wrongly been construed by certain elements as being disrespectful of the Head of State.
