Governor James Aggrey Bob Orengo’s administration on Friday was lauded for their quick response and release of ambulances that helped to rescue victims of a road accident that occured at Mbeji area.
Locals led by Seline Anyango said they now have renewed confidence in the Orengo administration following the quick response and release of ambulances by the Department that ultimately helped save lives.

“Some of the 12 victims of the accident who were rescued are now fighting for their lives at Siaya Teaching and Referral Hospital,” said Anyango.

Anyango added that, “for sure, we have a government that has the interests of the public at heart,”
As she tearfully narrated her story Anyango said: “We are thankful to the health Department of the County Government of Siaya. Treatment began immediately victims landed into the ambulances, this is a clear commitment of Nyalore administration towards saving lives.”
CGS dispatched an emergency response team in three ambulances which evacuated 12 victims to Siaya Teaching and Referral Hospital.
One of the victims had severe injuries and is currently admitted at the facility’s ICU section.
Governor Orengo in a message released Friday night, sent his condolences to the bereaved families and wished quick recovery to the victims undergoing treatment.
Orengo also commended the Emergency Response Team and health professionals based at Siaya Referral Hospital for their quick, highly professional and dedicated response.
Reports indicate that two people died on the spot while 12 others sustained serious degrees of injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
According to police reports the accident involved a Nissan matatu and a KUPA truck ferrying caskets to Siaya town.
Siaya OCPD Evaline Cherotich, said there were passengers that were seriously injured and admitted to Siaya County Referral Hospital where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Police said the accident took place on Friday at 9:00 am.
“The driver of the Nissan that was carrying 14 passengers had made an impromptu brake forcing the heavy truck that was moving in the same direction to hit it from behind, “ said Madam Cherotich.
