Siaya Governor James Aggrey Bob Orengo on Thursday pulled off another scoop in his political journey as he successfully wagered aid amounting to a whooping KES 5.1 billion from the State.
Orengo who was at the head of a delegation comprising elected Siaya leaders and policy makers on Thursday 5, June, 2025 paid a call on President Dr William Samoei Ruto at State House, Nairobi.
Governor Orengo presented a joint memorandum outlining priority areas earmarked for development in which the County Government of Siaya needed the collaboration of the National Government.

An amiable and generous host, President Ruto pledged to invest KES 1 billion on developing the Usenge Pier and the attendant port infrastructure to stimulate the government’s Blue Economy Agenda in the region.
Dr. Ruto also promised to construct 16 modern markets in Siaya County at a cost of KES 2.5 billion and allocate an additional KES 1.6 billion in the connection of more than 16,000 households to power with a goal of spurring entrepreneurship.
The much touted tension between Governor Orengo and the president was not evident today as the two shared light moments seasoned with bonhomie and camaraderie. The two share an eventful political past having been legislators in the Kenyan Parliament for close to two decades.
Siaya Governor James Orengo, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Secretary-general Edwin Sifuna have, however, openly criticized the Kenya Kwanza administration when they felt the Constitution of Kenya and Devolution were threatened.
The State House visit marks a turning point for Siaya politics with the Governor who has relentlessly pursued the implementation of CIDP getting a boost from the national government to continue actualizing his Nyalore manifesto.
Present in the Siaya delegation were Members of Parliament from the region, Members of the County Assembly led by Speaker George Okode, Siaya County Members of Executive, and a number of Chief Officers.
Also present were Siaya Deputy Governor Dr William Oduol Denge, CS Energy James Opiyo Wandayi, Chairman Sugar Board Authority Engineer Nicholas Odero Gumbo, Assistant Chief of Protocol in the Office of the President, Eliud Owalo, Elders, Religious leaders, notable businessmen and representatives of NGAO.
In an earlier communication leaked to the media the Siaya Governor had requested a meeting with the president and provided the same list of people as attendees.
“The purpose of the meeting is to engage you on key development matters affecting the county and to explore collaborative pathways through which the national government and county government can work together to accelerate socio-economic growth of the people of Siaya,” the letter attributed to the Governor had stated.
Today the Governor’s request was granted and he walked out of State House with a bagful of goodies plus KES 5.1 billion in promised development for the people of Siaya.

During the meeting Governor Orengo read a memorandum on behalf of the delegation and in a light moment concluded by asking the Head of State to meet and help implement the requests according to the letter and statue of the 2010 Constitution.
