Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, following the passing of his father, Mzee Weston Kirocho Kanja.
Amin visited the Inspector General at his home on Monday evening, where he signed the condolence book and offered words of comfort and solidarity to the grieving family. Mzee Kanja passed away on October 14, 2025.

In a message shared on social media platform X, Amin described the loss as a moment of deep sorrow for the National Police Service, emphasizing unity and compassion within the security fraternity.
“The Director, together with the entire DCI fraternity, extends heartfelt condolences and stands in solidarity with the Inspector General and his family during this difficult time. We are united in mourning their loss and offer our deepest sympathies as they navigate this challenging period,” the message read.

According to family announcements, the late Mzee Kirocho will be laid to rest on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the family home in Thome Village, Matanya Sub-location, Tigithi Location, Laikipia County.
Amin assured the Inspector General of continued support and prayers from the DCI and the broader police service community as the family prepares to bid farewell to their patriarch.
The condolence visit came as the country continues to observe a somber national mood following the burial of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Sunday, October 19, at his father’s Kang’o ka Jaramogi farm in Bondo, Siaya County.
Raila, who was honoured with a state funeral, was posthumously conferred with the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (CGH) — Kenya’s highest civilian award — by President William Ruto, in recognition of his lifelong dedication to democracy and public service.
On Monday, former President Uhuru Kenyatta visited Raila’s gravesite in a quiet moment of remembrance, accompanied by Siaya Senator Dr. Oburu Oginga and family members.
The historic funeral drew local and international dignitaries, among them former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, highlighting Raila’s indelible mark on Kenya’s political and democratic journey.
As the nation mourns its heroes — both national and personal — moments such as Amin’s visit underscore the shared humanity that binds Kenya’s leadership beyond official titles.
