Team Siaya has kicked off the 12th edition of the Kenya Inter-Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) Games with a powerful statement — sweeping the Scrabble tables in both the men’s and women’s categories and staking an early claim for this year’s coveted overall trophy.
Barely a day after Governor James Orengo officially assumed the role of KICOSCA Patron, Siaya’s Scrabble teams delivered a clean, confident and commanding performance that electrified day two of the games.
Siaya Men and Women Take Command
With 79 players entered in the men’s Scrabble competition, Siaya outclassed traditional rivals to top the standings, followed closely by Busia and Kisii.
On the women’s side — where 71 players battled for dominance — Siaya once again clinched the top spot, beating Nairobi and Murang’a, who finished second and a distant third respectively.
This year’s tournament features 22 counties in the men’s contest and 19 in the ladies’ division, placing Siaya firmly at the front of a competitive field.
Stars Behind Siaya’s Scrabble Supremacy
The Nyalore administration’s tactical support and revitalized morale were evident through standout performances from Siaya’s finest word-warriors.

Siaya’s Scrabble teams are no strangers to success. Last year, they delivered a sterling performance at the 11th KICOSCA Games in Kakamega — a feat that elevated the county’s sporting profile nationwide.
Now, buoyed by a rejuvenated team spirit and strong backing from Governor Orengo and CEC Sports and Culture Anjeline Oduor, Team Siaya is aiming even higher.
Eyes on the Ultimate Prize
With the games set to close on Saturday, confidence is surging within the camp. Their dominant early performance signals only one ambition — bringing home the Scrabble trophy and strengthening Siaya’s overall medal prospects.
If this explosive start is anything to go by, the Nyalore administration may be steering Siaya towards one of its best KICOSCA campaigns yet.
Siaya has spoken — and it’s spelling victory.
