President William Ruto on Thursday convened a high-level thought leadership forum at State House, Nairobi, aimed at sharpening Kenya’s economic trajectory by aligning the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) with Vision 2030 and accelerating delivery over the next five years.
The meeting brought together some of the country’s most respected policy minds, led by Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o, alongside Prof Karuti Kanyinga, Prof Oduor Wanyande, Prof Michael Chege, economist Denis Onyango, and governance expert George Omondi. The team engaged the President and members of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors in a wide-ranging discussion on Kenya’s long-term development path.
At the centre of the deliberations was a thought-leadership presentation examining how BETA can act as the practical engine for Vision 2030—translating policy into measurable outcomes as Kenya navigates a complex economic transition marked by global shocks, fiscal pressures, and rising social expectations.
According to State House sources, the discussions yielded critical insights on policy alignment across national and county governments, economic inclusion, and the structural reforms needed to entrench productivity, competitiveness, and resilience beyond 2030. Emphasis was placed on ensuring that growth is broad-based, people-centred, and anchored in sustainable financing models.
President Ruto reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to a development strategy that prioritises ordinary Kenyans while keeping sight of long-term national goals. He underscored the need for evidence-based policymaking, coherence in implementation, and continuous engagement with independent thinkers to keep Kenya on a steady reform path.
The thought leadership team and the President’s Council of Economic Advisors are expected to continue engaging, refining proposals, and shaping a coherent long-term development vision that positions Kenya for sustained growth and a transition toward first-world economic status.
As Kenya enters a decisive phase of economic reform, the State House engagement signals a deliberate effort by the Ruto administration to marry political will with intellectual rigour—ensuring that the Bottom-Up promise delivers tangible results within the Vision 2030 framework and beyond.
