Siaya Governor James Aggrey Bob Orengo Thursday morning was the object of a stampede outside the County Headquarters in Siaya town as excited residents received him back on resumption of office.
Governor Orengo has been out of the country for three weeks and news of his seeking medical attention in India had spread a measure of anxiety among Siaya residents.
The spontaneous welcome caught the governor and his security unawares as he was thronged by happy folk outside the County Headquarters gates who demanded he alight from his official transport and address them.

During his absence a team of known-detractors stirred public unrest by selling all manner of conspiracy theories on social media. The magnitude of the emotive welcome was enough to allay fears that the governor will be facing any credible obstacles as he prepares to serve the county for a second term.

“Sijui mumeskia hii ‘Ruto must go,’ ‘Kasongo,’ ‘Wantam…’ na maneno ingine kama hiyo. And I want to tell you we are going to move this county forward,” he said amid ululation from a jubilant crowd.
The president was speaking in Kisumu Town ahead of the launch of the LV Point Affordable Housing precinct within LV Marina.
He said the opposition has no plan or agenda for the Kenyan citizens.
“These are people who have no vision, no plan, and no agenda. We will show them dust; they won’t believe it!”
