A challenging borehole project that had defeated three previous drilling firms has finally yielded success after Jemima Logistics Ltd struck underground water at Johnny Junior’s residence in Got Abiero, Bondo sub-County of Siaya, marking a major win for technical persistence and hydrogeological precision.
The company drilled to a depth of 150 metres, overcoming complex underground conditions that had earlier forced other contractors to abandon the site.
Engineer Duncan Nganyi of Jemima Logistics Ltd said the breakthrough was the result of careful geological interpretation and timely adjustments in drilling methodology.
“This was not an easy formation,” Eng. Nganyi said. “We began with air drilling for faster penetration, but once we encountered foundation clay, we immediately switched to mud drilling to stabilize the borehole and maintain progress.”
According to the project’s geological logs, the drilling team observed rock formation changes roughly every 10 metres — a pattern the engineers interpreted as a strong indicator of potential groundwater presence.
Eng. Nganyi revealed that confidence in locating an aquifer came early in the process.
“From our loggings within the first 40 metres, we were already optimistic about intersecting a productive aquifer. The changing lithology was a positive hydrogeological signal,” he explained.
The borehole was ultimately completed successfully, delivering a reliable water source for the residence and ending months of uncertainty.
The total project cost stood at KSh 1,035,000, reflecting the technical complexity and depth of the drilling works.
Water experts note that professionally executed boreholes are increasingly vital in parts of Siaya County, where seasonal water shortages continue to affect households and developments.
The Got Abiero success adds to a growing list of Jemima Logistics projects in the Bondo region, including:
Nyakasumbi Gate A Project for Stephen Ogendi
Mr. Wara Water Project next to Bansi Super Market
Otic Apartments borehole in Abindu, Bondo
Olkeria Spa Water Project in Sinapanga, Bondo
Eng. Nganyi emphasized the firm’s commitment to tackling technically demanding sites.
“Our strength lies in proper hydrogeological assessment and flexibility in the field. Even where others give up, we analyse the data and adapt — that is how you find water in difficult terrains,” he said.
With climate variability and growing demand putting pressure on traditional water sources, borehole drilling is fast becoming a critical investment for homes, institutions and commercial properties across western Kenya.
For Johnny Junior’s residence in Got Abiero, the successful strike at 150 metres now promises dependable water supply — and a case study in why expertise matters beneath the surface.
