A wave of celebration swept through Lakisama Ward in Nairobi as more than 300 children walked away with prizes worth Ksh 1 million in a vibrant talent showcase spearheaded by Victor Ochola.
The high-energy event, dubbed “Ringo Kids Dance” edition, transformed the grounds of Lakisama Primary School into a lively stage where young performers dazzled crowds with creativity, rhythm, and raw talent. The initiative brought together children from diverse age groups, offering them a rare platform to showcase their skills while nurturing future leaders within the community.
Groups such as Safe Girls, Curious Cousins, Union Crew, Infinity, Hakuna Matata, Star Kids, and Flex lit up the stage in a tightly contested competition that featured both junior and senior categories. The performances reflected not only artistic flair but also the growing pool of untapped talent in Ruaraka Constituency.
Winners in the junior category took home Ksh 40,000, with second and third place earning Ksh 30,000 and Ksh 20,000 respectively. In the senior bracket, top performers bagged Ksh 70,000, followed by Ksh 60,000 and Ksh 50,000 for second and third positions. Judges and event officials were also recognized in the prize distribution, underscoring the scale and organization of the extravaganza.
The event—one of its kind in the area since the introduction of ward-level administration—was hosted by MCs Queen Tyra and Talipha, drawing a packed audience and electrifying atmosphere that many residents described as long overdue.
Speaking during the occasion, Ochola emphasized the importance of investing in youth talent as a pathway to social and economic empowerment. He announced plans to make the competition an annual fixture, positioning Lakisama as a hub for grassroots talent development.
Beyond entertainment, the legislator also used the platform to rally residents behind William Ruto, voicing support for his re-election bid and the ongoing broad-based government arrangement.
For many families in Lakisama, the event was more than just a dance competition—it was a moment of pride, opportunity, and hope, proving that with the right support, local talent can shine on a bigger stage.
