President Dr William Samoei Ruto today lost his cool and rebuked sections of the Kenyan media for criticizing his unity with opposition doyen Raila Amollo Odinga.
The president who was addressing an Easter Sunday church service at Ntulele in Narok County was adamant that those criticizing his unity with Raila totally know nothing about God.
“Wale ambao hawajui Mungu wanatuambia kwa magazeti kwamba unity ni usaliti. Shame on you! (Those who do not know God are telling us that unity is betrayal),” the president said in apparent rage.
Earlier he praised the Bishop who gave the sermon claiming that God had spoken to Kenyans through the man of cloth.

“Nimekusikiza kwa makini sana Bishop Mangura na umehubiri kitu ya maana sana. Kama pengine hujui, Mungu amezungumza na wa-Kenya kupitia kwako (I have keenly listened to you Bishop Mangura. You may not know it but God has spoken to Kenyans through you today),” Ruto told the Bishop.
The president said the sermon aligned to his thinking on how to run the country. He emphasized the importance of unity among leaders from diverse backgrounds so as to achieve the common goal of changing the economy of Kenya.
Making an apparent inference to a headline in one of the country’s leading dailies today president Dr William Samoei Ruto claimed those speaking against his unity with Raila were the real betrayers of this country as they were speaking against God’s will.
The president said his critics were using the media, especially the newspapers, to write lies as far as his efforts to unite the country are concerned.
“How sad and shameful is the devil using some of us. Na tunasema shetani ashindwe (And we say that Satan must be defeated),” he added, amid shouts of ululation from the congregants.
Meanwhile the president stated that the government has transitioned all public procurements to an electronic platform, a pledge he made during his State of the Nation address in November 2024.
He said these efforts will now embed transparency, eliminate ambiguity in public spending, and enforce accountability in the stewardship of national resources.
