According to eyewitness reports a serious confrontation erupted when locals disputed demarcation of a parcel of land by government officials.

As tensions escalated the residents blocked roads and confronted security personnel who responded with force leading to the deaths of the five civilians.

A video that has gone viral shows women and children screaming as gunshots and war-cries  rent the air.

Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has expressed dismay over the incident and pledged support to the victims of the skirmishes.

Olekina  promised to intervene and ensure that the land, linked to a powerful politician from the region, is not taken away from the local community.

“I am deeply saddened by the reported news of the killings in Angata Barikoi. My heartfelt condolences to all affected. I want to assure you that no one can take your land from you.

“As your Senator, I stand firmly with you in this difficult time. I will visit the area to gain a better understanding of the situation and offer my support. Once again, my sincere condolences,” he posted on his X page.
