A robust Siaya Governor James Aggrey Bob Orengo today held a consultative meeting with Members of the County Assembly (MCA) led by Speaker George Okode, alongside Members of the County Executive Committee (CEC), in the Governor’s Boardroom.
The Governor, who had been away from office for a short period, commended Speaker Okode and the Executive team, under the stewardship of County Secretary Joseph Ogutu, for effectively steering county operations in his absence.
Orengo updated the meeting on key ongoing County Government projects, undertaken in collaboration with President William Ruto’s National Government and development partners. These include major initiatives in the Blue Economy and maritime infrastructure at Usenge, Luanda Kotieno, Wich Lum, and Asembo Bay beaches.
He also highlighted progress on two flagship National Government projects under the Ministry of Defence:

Siaya County Referral Hospital Upgrade (Phase Two) – to feature modern treatment rooms, an expanded Accident & Emergency wing, a large oxygen facility, MRI services, improved cancer care facilities, and a new parking lot.
Siaya Stadium Upgrade (Phase Two) – to include a helipad for dignitaries, an extra 5,500 seating capacity pavilion, cantilever-type terraces, multiple changing rooms, and security-proof VIP glass panels, positioning the stadium to host national and international matches as well as presidential and national day events.
Orengo emphasized the need for legislation to guarantee financial autonomy for Bondo and Siaya municipalities, enabling stronger revenue collection and independence from undue influence.
In a lighthearted moment, the Governor assured attendees that he was “fit as a fiddle” and ready for a fresh start, promising accelerated infrastructure growth and full support for development partners working with the County Government.
The Governor expressed gratitude to President Ruto for sending a technical team to brief county leaders on the two flagship projects, underscoring their strategic importance for Siaya’s growth.
In closing, Orengo praised Speaker Okode for his steadfast leadership, urging both the Assembly and Executive to work together to realize the Nyalore dream for the prosperity of Siaya and beyond.
