In his latest four-day tour of Nyanza President Dr William Samoei Ruto will not visit Migori.
Insider sources attribute the decision to simmering wrangles between Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko and a number of legislators from the region.
The Migori Governor is blamed for leaving out in his entourage area Members of Parliament in last week’s visit to President Ruto at State House, Nairobi.
Led by Minority Leader in the National Assembly Junet Mohammed the Migori MPs held a collateral meeting in Nairobi and resolved to boycott the president’s tour of the region.
The legislators have accused the Governor of deliberately sidelining them whenever planning important events leading to debacles such as was witnessed three weeks ago when someone threw a shoe at the president in Migori.
The four-day presidential tour is hosted by former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga and will see unveiling of development projects in Kisumu and Homabay Counties.
It will also see the unveiling of a revamped Raila Odinga Stadium where this year’s national Madaraka Day Celebrations will be marked.
Insider sources claim that the supremacy war between Junet Mohammed and Ochilo Ayacko has to do with contest for the Migori County gubernatorial seat in the 2027 elections.
In an earlier release by State House the presidential itinerary was to begin today Thursday May 29 at Sony Sugar in Awendo, Migori County. The revised itinerary shows that the president accompanied by his host Raila Odinga will hold functions in Kisumu County.
He will then proceed to Ndhiwa in Homabay County with stops at the Gor Mahia Ring Road, the launch of a Last Mile Electricity project valued at KES 2 billion, and the laying of a foundation stone for a new Technical Training Institute (TTI).

The president will spend Thursday night at Homabay State Lodge.
On Friday May 30, President Ruto will preside over the closing of the Blue Economy Conference at Tom Mboya University (TMU) and commission a new university building.
He will also officially launch the Kenya School of Law (KSL) and TMU Maritime Centre of Excellence, a joint initiative aimed at training professionals to support the Blue Economy, which is increasingly being positioned as a key economic frontier for the country.
The Head of State is set to tour the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) pier and fish market, before visiting the new Rangwe Sub-County headquarters and inspecting ongoing road infrastructure projects in the region.
On Saturday, May 31, President Ruto will host a meeting with Homa Bay leaders at the State Lodge from 4:00 p.m.
The highlight of the presidential visit will culminate on Sunday, June 1, when the President leads Kenyans in marking Madaraka Day at the Raila Odinga Stadium.
